A BIT ABOUT ME
My Experience, My Passion
Ramel Mitchell is currently the Principal at Ventures II, an alternative education program located in Columbus. He earned his undergraduate degree while playing basketball on a full scholarship at Division II NCAA Urbana University. He earned his Master’s degree in Teacher Leadership and his Principal’s licence at Wright State University. Ramel is happily married to his beautiful wife and business accountant KaChay (Former Ohio indoor high school track record holder and 2 year scholarship 400M runner at The Ohio State University) .
Ramel is an accomplished high school and collegiate basketball player who had two Division I opportunities. In high school Ramel is a 2 time Akron City Series player of the year, Northeast Ohio Player of the year, 2008 1st team All State selection, and his High School’s All time Leading Scorer. He led his team to a City series championship in 2008, 2 time district champion 2007-2008, and made 2 regional appearances 2007-2008. Playing valuantly scoring 24 points in a losing effort against 2 current NBA players CJ McCollum and Kosta Koufos.
In college Ramel was an all conference player at Urbana University, a double digit scorer for 3 years, leading his team and top 5 in the conference his junior and senior seasons in 3 point percentage (40%), 3 pointers made, free throw percentage (90%), and steals (2.5spg) ending his career with 15 points in a college All Star game.
After college Ramel had various professional basketball opportunities overseas but chose to join the coaching staff and finish his undergraduate degree. Once attaining his degree he started teaching and coaching in Troy where he has started his business The Movement: I.T.P.A. LLC (Intentional Talk Purposeful Action). His business is dedicated to cultivating the minds of the youth by providing them with consistent positive exposure. This is not only focused on basketball skill development but also developing and enhancing life skills. Today’s youth is tomorrow’s future and it’s our responsibility to shape and prepare them. Ramel’s philosophy is rooted in these two bible verses; James 2:26 Faith without work is dead. Proverbs 13:19 The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul. We must believe and we must put in the work to accomplish our goals and when we do, that feeling is priceless.
Ramel, along with his lovely wife (KaChay) and daughter (Meliah) reside in Westerville, Ohio. Although Ramel had a very successful athletic career it pails in comparison to KaChay who held the 400m indoor HS record in the state of Ohio for many years, HS state champion and Ohio State Buckeye Big 10 champion. Needless to say the love for athletics runs deep and the joy to share that passion with the youth is nothing shot of admirable.
